World of Bill Bailey, comedian, actor and musician

Bill Bailey, 45, began performing comedy in the late 1980s as part of a musical double-act, the Rubber Bishops. In 1995 he was nominated for the Perrier Award at the Edinburgh Fringe for his solo show Cosmic Jam. Four years later he won Best Live Stand-Up at the British Comedy Awards, and since then, along with his live tours and DVDs, he has been a regular face on television: from the award-winning sitcom Black Books (2000) to BBC Two’s music panel show Never Mind the Buzzcocks (2002-2008).

He has appeared in several films, from Saving Grace (2000) to Burke and Hare, which is out now. Bailey’s latest show, Dandelion Mind, is at the Wyndhams Theatre, London, and a DVD of the show will be released on November 22. He lives in Hammersmith, west London, with his wife, Kristen, son, Dax, six, four dogs, two cats, four birds, a snake and a chameleon (billbailey.co.uk).
