Comedian Lee Mack reveals his strangest-ever gift

COMEDIAN Lee Mack thought it was no laughing matter when he was sent a cardboard mask – of his own face.

He describes it as his strangest-ever gift and was baffled when he opened the parcel after a show in Birmingham.

It was sent to him by Leamington Spa firm Mask-arade, which shot to fame when the three business partners appeared on Dragons’ Den.

They walked out empty-handed after being rejected, but say their company is now worth £750,000.
They have been busy trying to get endorsements from celebrities and have amassed more than 150 signed masks from the likes of George Bush, David Cameron and Alan Sugar. But comic Lee won’t be joining the collection.

“I just thought it was so odd,” he said. “I have no idea why anyone would want a mask of my face.

“The idea of someone selling my face is a bit upsetting. I feel like I’ve been pimped! I certainly won’t be giving my endorsement. If there was any money in it, I would do it myself.”

Lee’s year-long Going Out tour has been extended, and although he appeared at Birmingham’s Alexandra Theatre in February and May, he’s back in the city to play four nights at Symphony Hall from Thursday.
So if fans have already seen him this year, should they rush back?

“Hand on heart, don’t, because I’m doing the same stuff,” he admitted. “It’s like going to see the same film. You wouldn’t expect Johnny Depp to change his lines, would you?”
