Jo Brand’s Big Splash exclusively on Dave
The UK Queen of comedy, Jo Brand, wades her way through the murky world of wild swimming, mud racing and daring dives; introducing us to the more bizarre British people, places and events that have an involvement with water and swimming – exclusively on Dave Thursdays at 9pm from 22nd September 2011 (Sky 111, Virgin 128, Freeview 19).
A compelling combination of comedy travelogue and stand-up, Jo Brand’s Big Splash is a humorous, revealing and eccentric portrait of the British from the perspective of the one thing that, as a nation of islanders, surrounds us all - water.
Each episode sees the queen of comedy in her custom-made swimsuit with essential pockets for fags, lipstick and a donor card. Appalled at how few Brits actually get into the sea, Jo, armed with a loud hailer and her inimitable presence, demands that all those soaking up the bank holiday sun on Brighton Beach take the plunge with her in a mad charge into the beautiful British sea. Dave’s reluctant swimmer also joins Britain’s first gay synchronised swimming team, races a homemade, royal-wedding-themed raft and learns how to make a living diving for golf balls.
Jo is joined along the way by fellow comedians and water babies, Bill Bailey and Sean Lock as well bad boy of Olympic diving, Blake Aldridge.
