Comedian Laurence Clark at the Bluecoat as part of DaDaFest 2010

COMEDIAN Laurence Clark takes to the stage at the Bluecoat tomorrow as part of DaDaFest International 2010.
Prepare to have your ribs well and truly tickled as the Liverpool comic presents What’s the Best Medicine?
The new show, billed as a no holds barred prescription for tongue-in-cheek genius comedy, has been commissioned by the festival.
“Laurence Clark is an incredible comedian who I’m always pleased to see at DaDaFest,” says festival director Garry Robson.
“It was great this year to have an opportunity with the help of the Liverpool Primary Care Trust to commission Laurence’s new show.
“I know it will be an absolute cracker.”
The critically-acclaimed satirist, who was described by The Scotsman as “dangerously funny” after one Edinburgh show, launched his career at the first DaDaFest back in 2001.
His shows combine observational and political routines with hidden camera footage in order to demonstrate the endearing naivety and ridiculousness of human behaviour.
He presents the world through his eyes, using humour and warmth to show us how we behave.
The stand-up has made appearances on the BBC, ITV and Channel 4 and has also topped Shortlist magazine’s Britain’s Ten Funniest New Comedians, while his latest show garnered eight four star reviews.
What’s The Best Medicine? is based around Britain’s health system and compares it with the system in place in America.
The NHS has a profound effect on the comedian’s life, the circumstances surrounding his birth on New Year’s Eve indirectly leading to his cerebral palsy, while at the age of seven doctors encased his legs in plaster casts for months which left him unable to fit through most doorways.
Still, he remains a fan of the NHS.
Andy Hull, from Liverpool PCT, says: “We’re very pleased to support DaDaFest in this 2010 Year of Health. We know the disability arts movement can make a positive impact on people’s wellbeing and help to change perceptions.”
SEE Laurence Clark at the Bluecoat tomorrow at 8pm.
Tickets are £8 with £6 concessions on 0151-702 5234 or via www.thebluecoat.org.uk For more details on the DaDaFest programme, visit www.dadafest2010.co.uk
